Kitchen remodeling in Western New York
The room where your family actually lives deserves better than builder-grade cabinets and laminate from 2003.
Sound familiar?
Most of the kitchens we walk into share the same problems. Not because the homeowner doesn’t care, but because nobody has taken the time to fix them the right way.
Countertops that have had enough
Burn marks, stains that won’t come out, chipped edges, and seams that catch crumbs. The countertops were fine ten years ago. They’re not fine anymore, and wiping them down doesn’t change that.
Cabinets that don’t close right
Doors that swing open on their own, drawers that stick, shelves that sag in the middle. The hinges are shot, the finish is peeling, and no amount of hardware swapping is going to save them.
Lighting that makes everything look bad
One overhead fixture from 1998, no under-cabinet lights, and shadows on every work surface. You’re prepping food in the dark and the room feels smaller than it is.
A layout that fights you every day
The fridge door blocks the walkway. There’s no counter space next to the stove. The dishwasher is on the wrong side of the sink. You’ve been working around a bad layout for years and it slows you down every single meal.
Appliances and flooring that don’t match
A white fridge next to a black stove, vinyl peeling at the edges, and grout lines that haven’t been white since the day they were installed. The kitchen looks like it was assembled from three different decades.
Flooring that’s seen better days
Cracked tiles, worn-through vinyl, or linoleum that curls at the seams. The floor takes the most abuse of any surface in the house, and yours is letting you know it’s done.
How Mid City Home Restoration handles it
We don’t wing it. Every kitchen project at MHR follows the same documented 14-stage lifecycle. That means a written scope before work starts, photo-verified quality at every stage, and a final walkthrough before the project closes.
Written scope before anything starts
You get a detailed document that spells out what we’re doing, what materials are included, and what the timeline looks like. No verbal agreements, no guessing.
Photo-verified quality at every stage
We document each phase of the project with photos. You can see what’s behind the walls before we close them up. Nothing gets buried and forgotten.
Licensed trades coordinated for you
When the job calls for a licensed electrician or plumber, we bring in verified NY-licensed subcontractors. You don’t have to chase down separate contractors or juggle schedules.
The Signature Finish Protocol
Before any project closes, we run a final quality gate. A walkthrough, photo documentation, punch list resolution, and your sign-off. The job isn’t done until you say it is.
What’s included in a typical kitchen remodel
Every project scope is different, but here’s what a standard Mid City Home Restoration kitchen remodel covers.
Cabinets (stock, semi-custom, or custom)
Countertops (granite, quartz, butcher block)
Backsplash tile
Flooring
Lighting (under-cabinet + overhead)
Sink and faucet
Appliance hookups
Paint
How the process works
Here are four stages from our 14-stage lifecycle that matter most for kitchen projects.
Site visit + written scope
We walk the space, document what we find, and deliver a written scope with pricing. You know the plan and the cost before anything gets torn out.
Demo + rough-in coordination
Old materials come out. We coordinate licensed plumbers and electricians for any rough-in work, including new circuits for appliances and relocated plumbing. Everything gets documented with photos before we close up walls.
Finish installation
Cabinets, countertops, backsplash, flooring, lighting, sink, and paint go in. This is where the kitchen starts to look like what you signed off on in the scope.
Signature Finish Protocol
Our final quality gate. Walkthrough, photo documentation, punch list resolution, and your sign-off. The project doesn’t close without it.

Frequently asked questions
Kitchen remodel costs in Western NY typically range from $5,000 for a cosmetic refresh to $35,000 or more for a full gut renovation. The biggest factors are scope (how much you’re changing), material selections (stock vs. custom cabinets, laminate vs. quartz countertops), and whether you need licensed electrical or plumbing work. Mid City Home Restoration provides a written scope with fixed pricing after an on-site assessment, so you know exactly what you’re paying for before any work begins.
A cosmetic refresh can take 1 to 2 weeks. A moderate remodel with new countertops and cabinet work runs about 3 to 5 weeks. A full gut renovation typically takes 6 to 10 weeks depending on the scope, material lead times, permitting timeline, and licensed trade availability. MHR provides a project timeline in your written scope so you can plan around it.
Yes. We walk you through material options that fit your budget and the look you’re going for. That includes cabinets (stock, semi-custom, or custom), countertop materials (granite, quartz, butcher block), backsplash tile, flooring, and fixtures. We bring samples when it makes sense and can point you toward local suppliers we’ve worked with before.
For a cosmetic refresh, you can usually stay in the home with minor disruption. For moderate and full renovations, you won’t have a functioning kitchen for part of the project. Most homeowners set up a temporary kitchen in another room with a microwave, coffee maker, and cooler. We’ll give you a realistic timeline so you can plan meals and routines around it.
It happens, especially in older Western NY homes. If we open up a wall and find water damage, outdated wiring, or plumbing that doesn’t meet code, we document it with photos and talk to you before doing anything. We’ll explain what needs to happen, what it costs, and give you a written change order. Nothing gets added to the scope without your approval.
